These terms set out the rules for using the ONE Android app (com.placebodrinks.one), made by Placebo Drinks Ltd. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Placebo Drinks Ltd, a company in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”), which makes and runs ONE. They apply to the ONE Android app (com.placebodrinks.one), available on Google Play, and the services behind it.
By creating an account or using ONE you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data. If you don’t agree, please don’t use ONE.
2. Who can use ONE
ONE is for adults only. You must be at least 18 to create an account or use the app. The app asks for your date of birth at sign-up and will not let you in if you are under 18.
You must give your real date of birth and must not use ONE if the law where you live doesn’t allow it.
One person, one account. Don’t create accounts for someone else or after we have suspended you.
3. Your account and sign-in
You sign in with your email address. Each time, we email you a one-time code, which expires after 10 minutes. Keep access to your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed it.
Keep your profile honest. Don’t impersonate another person or business.
4. What ONE does
ONE helps you find people, activities, services and things for sale near you: a map of people nearby, a feed of posts, marketplace listings and opportunities, friend requests and 1:1 messages with accepted friends.
Location: our server (hosted on Cloudflare) stores your profile, posts, listings, messages and your location. Other members only see a blurred, approximate location, never your exact position, except when you choose to share your exact location with one accepted friend for a limited time (about 30 minutes). That share ends automatically.
Photos you add to your profile or gallery stay on your phone. We don’t upload them.
ONE is free to use. We may change, add or remove features over time.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post (your profile, posts, comments, listings, opportunities and messages). So that ONE can work, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and share that content with other members as the app is designed to do. This licence ends when your content or account is deleted, except for copies we are allowed to keep as described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to post it.
6. Content and conduct rules
You must not use ONE to post, list, send or do anything that is:
Illegal, or that encourages or helps others to break the law. This includes any content that sexualises children, which we report to the authorities.
Sex work or escort services, including adverts for, or requests for, paid sexual services.
Harassment: bullying, threats, hate, stalking, intimidation, or sharing someone’s private information without permission.
Scams or fraud: fake listings, misleading offers, phishing, or asking for money under false pretences.
Spam: repeated, automated or bulk posts and messages, or unwanted promotion.
Weapons or drugs: selling, buying or promoting weapons, illegal drugs or other prohibited or controlled goods.
Anything that infringes someone else’s rights (for example copyright or privacy), impersonates someone, or tries to hack, scrape, overload or get around the security or limits of ONE.
7. Blocking, reporting and enforcement
You can block any member. Blocked members can’t see you, message you or send you friend requests.
You can report profiles, posts and listings in the app. Please report anything that breaks these Terms.
We may review reported content. We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or the law, or that put other members at risk, with or without notice. Where appropriate we may share information with the police or other authorities.
We don’t check everything posted on ONE before it appears, and we can’t promise to catch every breach.
8. Meeting people, marketplace, trades and dating
ONE connects members with each other. Any meeting, date, sale, purchase, swap, job or service you arrange through ONE is between you and the other member, at your own risk.
We are not a party to any transaction or agreement between members. We don’t handle payments between members, hold money, deliver goods, or give any guarantee about items, prices or services.
We don’t vet, check, license or insure tradespeople, service providers, sellers or anyone else on ONE. Badges such as “email verified” or “age check passed” only show that a step in the app was completed; they are not a background or identity check.
Use common sense: meet in public places, tell someone where you are going, don’t send money in advance to people you don’t know, and check qualifications and insurance yourself before hiring someone.
Any dispute with another member is between you and them, although we would like to hear about members who break these Terms.
9. Paid boosted ads
You can optionally pay to boost a marketplace ad so more people nearby see it. Everything else in ONE is free.
Boosts are bought through Google Play Billing. The price is shown in the app before you pay. Google processes the payment; we never see your card or bank details.
Refunds are handled under Google Play’s refund policies. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
A boost increases visibility; it doesn’t guarantee views, replies or sales. A boosted ad must still follow these Terms, and we may remove it if it doesn’t.
10. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Me → Delete account → Delete my account permanently), or follow the steps at one-app.placebodrinks.workers.dev/delete-account/. What is deleted and what may be kept is explained there and in our Privacy Policy. Signing out or uninstalling the app does not delete your account.
We may also close your account under section 7. These Terms continue to apply to anything that happened before your account was closed.
11. Our liability
We provide ONE “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it running and safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free or secure, or that information from other members is accurate.
To the extent permitted by the law of the United Kingdom, we are not responsible for: the conduct of other members, online or offline; content posted by other members; transactions, meetings or services between members; or any indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, business or data.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to ONE is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for boosts in the 12 months before the claim, or £100.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms, for example when ONE changes or the law requires it. We will update this page and the effective date at the top, and tell you in the app about important changes. If you keep using ONE after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and if you live elsewhere you keep any mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
